The Airport started service on the 1st October 2011 after many delays. The current build phase will last until 2015 after which which the airport facilities will be up graded to handle the larger Airbus A380 and Boeing 747. Emirates and Korean Air, are looking in to using Lombok as an additional stop for routes to Australia and beyond.
